John La Mott "Jack" Holden Sr., 89, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born June 14, 1923, in Fostoria, to John Charles and Bessie Irene (Hunt) Holden. He married Maxine D. Fisher Nov. 29, 1942, and she preceded him in death Nov. 30, 2011. He was an Army Air Corp veteran, serving in the Pacific theater during World War II.
Survivors include four children, John (Gabrielle) Holden Jr. of Bainbridge, Ga., Karen (Bill) Hasselbach of Tucson, Ariz., Linda (Lanny) Piper of Raleigh, N.C., and William (Brenda) Holden of Findlay; two brothers, Richard of Bellefontaine and Ronald (Mavis) of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Doris Richendollar of Sevierville, Tenn., and Betty Bella of Oaklawn, Ill.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Janet Waltermyer.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday May 20, 2013, at High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Daniel Phillips and the Rev. James Holden officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, with military honors by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, 301 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
