Anti-drug programs offered
BELLEVUE - Operation Street Smart is making its fourth trip to Bellevue with a presentation at 7 p.m. today at The Bellevue Society for the Arts, 205 Maple St., Bellevue. It is part of Bellevue's Care Week, which runs through Saturday.
Michael Powell is the presenter and educator for the Franklin County-based program. He weaves personal and true stories from small towns across Ohio into the technical pieces of the program, discussing not only substance abuse, but warning of the industries that profit by helping drug users hide and deceive friends, family and law enforcement.
His message is directed at adults who enable minors to use and sell drugs. Only those 21 and older are permitted to attend.
Also, a panel discussion is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday at BSA with chemical dependency counselor Carolyn Wenner as moderator. Panelists from Huron, Sandusky, Erie and Seneca counties are to contribute to the panel. The discussion is to focus on the growing problem of chemical dependence and prescription drug abuse and its effects on families and communities.
Fish fry to be served
Sandusky River Coon Hunters is to serve an Alaskan walleye fish fry 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the club house, 7575 S. TR 131, next to Walnut Grove Campgrounds.
Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children for all you can eat. Choose from regular or Cajun seasoning.
Music lessons offered
The Heidelberg University Community Music School offers private music instruction year-round in Brenneman Music Hall on the Heidelberg campus. Lessons are offered weekly in most traditional instruments, including piano, voice, guitar and drums.
Fees vary according to educational level of available instructors. Recitals are conducted twice yearly.

SYCAMORE - A scholarship fund-raising benefit sponsored by the family and friends of Carrie Kayne Payne is planned for 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Lake on SR 103, near Sycamore.
A trap shoot is planned on the grounds before the event. There will be food, games, raffles and prizes.

Health fair coming
FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Area Health Ministry and ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital are staging the "Healthy, Wealthy and Wise" Community Health Fair 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Stacy's Place, 625 Plaza Drive, Fostoria.
Participants can take advantage of educational programs, information booths, health screenings and a complimentary light lunch.

Flood program to be shown
SYCAMORE - Mohawk Historical Society is to host a slide presentation of "The 1913 Tiffin Flood" at 7 p.m. Thursday in Sycamore United Methodist Church. Historian Mark Steinmentz of the Seneca County Historical Society compiled this program to observe the 100th anniversary of the disaster that changed the face of Tiffin.
This is a free presentation.
