Tiffin University earned a baseball split Wednesday with Wayne State, leaving the Dragons 19-27, 13-17 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. That's good enough for the sixth and final spot in the GLIAC Tournament heading into the season's final weekend.
TU took the opener 5-4 but fell 11-5 in the second game.
In the win, the Dragons scored all five runs in the third inning. Hopewell-Loudon product Logan Sendelbach kept the Warriors at bay. He gave up six hits, four runs in 5 1/3 innings to pick up his second win of the season. David Blalock got the save. Ryan Williams and Colin Sallee each had two hits.
In the second game, Garrett Vernau had three hits to lead TU while Williams drove in a pair of runs.

DEFIANCE - One was a blowout, one was a nail-biter, but the results were the same. Defiance swept Heidelberg 10-0 and 3-2, bringing an end to the Student Princes' season with a record of 12-24.
The first game was over quickly as Defiance scored all 10 of its runs in the first inning, then blanked Heidelberg in the five-inning affair.
In the second game, Heidelberg jumped ahead in the third inning when Kayla Zachrich doubled in Paige Atterholt. Zachrich then scored on Nicola Gabriele's single. But Defiance posted one run in the bottom of the third and added two in the fourth to jump ahead.
