Mohawk Local School District was under lockdown for most of Friday.
A parent had reported a child missing and the possibility of a missing firearm, Superintendent Ken Rattliff said.
"The lockdown was just a precautionary measure. We were under high alert. We made sure everyone's doors were locked and Lt. Todd Frey of the Wyandot County Sheriff's Department came and assisted in watching all of the comings and goings of the day," Rattliff said. "We didn't believe there was any danger; we just wanted to be safe."
The child later was found safe in Kentucky, Ratliff said. The lockdown was lifted by 2 p.m.
"There was no issues, and we are very happy that the child is home," he said.
