TC suffers close loss
So far this season, Columbian has been the victim of tough losses.
The Tornadoes dropped their sixth game by a single run, losing to Sandusky, 3-2.
Paige Correll did plenty of good things, both in the circle and at the plate. She hit her third homer of the season, doubled and scored twice. In the circle, she struck out seven and scattered nine hits, and Columbian led 2-1 going to the sixth.
"She's doing enough, pitching well enough to win these ballgames," Columbian coach Bess Artino said.
But the Streaks rallied for two runs in the sixth, taking the lead and, eventually, the win.
"We had, in the sixth, one bad inning," Artino said.
Columbian fell to 1-9. Artino said her team is improving, but she's not going to make excuses.
"That's not gonna make these girls better," the former Heidelberg first baseman said. "They're progressing, they need to buckle down in pressure situations."
Mercedes Omlor went 2 for 4 at the plate for Columbian.
Sandusky improved to 3-0 in the Northern Ohio League.
