Oliver Junior King, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Tiffin, to Oliver and Ida (Creeger) King. He married Luella Fern Stine Jan. 14, 1945, at Hopewell First Church of God, Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife, Luella; son, Curtis (Lisa) King of Tiffin; two daughters, Marcia (Greg) Neff of Sugarcreek and Karen (Dave) Beleny of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Kelly (Doug) Burtscher, Kimberly (Greg) Balychev, David Beleny and Alexander Beleny; and one great-grandchild, Brody Burtscher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cecil and Mark King.
Oliver graduated in 1940 from Tiffin Columbian High School and was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for teen youth. He was a lifelong farmer and active in several farm organizations. He was a member of Hopewell-Loudon School board for 20 years, Bascom Lions Club, was a 4-H advisor for 22 years and was a trustee for Bascom United Methodist Church and other boards. In 1999, he was inducted into the first class of the Hopewell-Loudon Hall of Fame. Oliver loved woodworking and old cars.
His funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Bascom United Methodist Church with Pastor Cal Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. There also will be an hour of visitation prior to his funeral Friday at the church.
