Ohio Woodland Stewards are planning a Woods, Water and Wildlife program 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford County courthouse.
The program is to explore keeping a woodland healthy, how to improve it for wildlife and timber and how to manage other natural areas.
Speakers are to be Kathy Smith, Ohio State University Extension program director in forestry and creator and team leader of the Ohio Woodland Stewards program; Dave Apsley, natural resources specialist for OSU Extension, Jackson, will speak about forestry; Stan Gehrt, wildlife Extension specialist at OSU and chair of wildlife research at the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation; and Eugene Braig, Extension program director in aquatic ecosystems.
Topics are trees, woodland invaders, coyotes, algae plants and fish in ponds and selling timber.
In addition, a Wildlife in Your Woods program is planned 9 a.m.-2:45 p.m. April 19 at The Ohio State University Mansfield campus.
The workshop is to cover managing wildlife basics, songbird habitat, mammals in Ohio, vernal pool creation and management and a wildlife habitat walk.
