BASCOM - Hopewell Loudon Board of Education meeting Wednesday evening started with filming by TV broadcasting production instructor Brenda Burns and student commentator Marissa Reinhart. Interviewed individually, school board President Linda Depinet, Vice President Sandy Reinhart, and members Mary Ruth Crandall, Doug Ranker and Greg Siebenaller talked about their memories and impressions of the school district. Some things mentioned included the "Battle of Bullfrog Road" and memories of graduating from Hopewell-Loudon or watching their children graduate from the school.
Following filming was recognition of Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award winner David Beleny. He is the first winner from Hopewell-Loudon and Seneca County in almost 20 years.?Public tours for the new school campus are set for 9 a.m.-noon May 18. The final sewer goal is set for May 1.?The annual service fundraiser at Bob Evans restaurant in Tiffin is set for 6 a.m.-9 p.m. May 9.?Superintendent Nichole Jiran said student/parent handbooks are to be available by the May school board meeting. Jiran and the board discussed Hall of Fame inductees, but a decision was tabled.
Jiran also covered the latest state of Ohio school ratings with mixed reviews. H-L rated "excellent" overall for the year, but did not do well in the "value added" score, a rating of measured growth. The state is to change ratings next year.
Jiran added members of the class of 1940 will join this year's graduates at commencement.?Overnight trips for girls' basketball camps in Lexington, Ky., and Adrian, Mich., were approved. Volleyball team camp at Purdue University was approved. Nature's Classroom Outdoor school at Bellville for 6th grade was approved, and overnight stay for cheerleading summer camp at Bowling Green State University was approved.
The school board accepted $1,470 for softball pitching equipment from the Hopewell-Loudon Athletic Boosters and $600 from Linde LLC for Athletics-Dick Schultz Investments.

Rinehart-Walters-Danner as provider of K-12 student accident insurance.
Cut Right Lawn and Landscaping for lawn mowing services for 2013, 2014, 2015 option to renew.
PT Services for physical and occupational therapy.
Pegasus/Keith Hodkinson for athletic pictures for 2013-2015.?The board went into executive session twice for matters including personnel discussion.
The board is to meet at 6:30 p.m. May 8 in the Distance Learning Lab.
