Mary C. Roller

Mary C. Roller, 86, of Bettsville, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

She was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Oak Harbor, to George and Delilah (Perry) Cross. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and enjoyed attending their monthly class reunions. She married Thomas C. Roller in 1975, and he preceded her in death.

Mary worked at Pittman's Five and Ten store, Oak Harbor, the Erie Army Depot, Port Clinton, during World War II, then for Joseph's department store. She also worked as a deputy recorder for Seneca County recorder's office for many years until she retired. Mary then worked for Otto and Urban Flowers part time.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was a member of Abigail's Circle. She played the piano in a band with her dad and brothers when she was a teenager. Mary was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader for many years. She was a member of the DAR and Colonial Dames. She enjoyed reading and was a seamstress, making many wedding dresses and working part time at the bridal store in Bettsville.

Mary is survived by two children, Patricia A. McCarty of Fremont and Paul (Robin) Wargowsky of Jackson; two stepchildren, Thomas (Alice) Roller Jr. and Marjorie Roller, both of Bowling Green; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mary also was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frederick A. Wargowsky; two stepchildren, Michael Roller and Mary Book; and two brothers, Charles and Edgar Cross.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St., Fremont.

A celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Joseph Lees officiating.

Burial will be at New Bellville Ridge Cemetery, Perrysburg Township, Wood County, at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
