Kathryn Jean ‘Kathy’ Scherger

Kathryn Jean "Kathy" Scherger, 48, of New Riegel, passed away Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

She was born March 28, 1964, in Tiffin, to Earl and Rosella (Frank) Kreais. She married William "Willie" Scherger May 3, 1991.

Survivors include her parents, Earl and Rosella of Fostoria; husband, Willie of New Riegel; son, John Scherger of New Riegel; four brothers, Ken (Connie) Kreais of Findlay and Ron Kreais, Kevin (Kim) Kreais and Gary (Jenny) Kreais, all of Fostoria; sister, Patty (Dean Stell) Kreais of Fostoria; and many nieces and nephews and greatnieces and nephews.

Kathy graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1982 and from Toledo University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in business. She worked in the accounting department at Roppe Corporation, Fostoria, for more than 20 years and was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel. Kathy was active and past president of the PTO for many years and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 354, New Riegel.

Kathy enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending time at the New Riegel Moose and summer vacations at Apple Valley with her family. Her favorite sports teams were The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. She also enjoyed attending every sports event for her nieces and nephews.

Her service of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass.

Friends may visit and share stories 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 1:30 p.m. and an American Legion Auxiliary service will be at 3:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, New Riegel, FACT and Bridge Hospice, Findlay.
