Charles Ellis Tackett, 76, formerly of Willard until moving to Port Clinton in 1990, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the inpatient unit at Stein Hospital, Sandusky.
He was born March 3, 1937, in Portsmouth to the late Ellis D. and Helen L. (James) Tackett.
Mr. Tackett is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane (Boehler) Tackett, whom he married in 1956; five sons, Kevin Tackett of Delaware, Dennis Tackett of Bellevue, Rick (Betty) Tackett of Half Moon Bay, Calif., David (Alicia) Tackett of Pickerington, and Jamie Tackett of Columbia, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a sister Linda.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Tackett.
Mr. Tackett served in the U.S. Army and worked for the B&O/CSX railroad for 37 years. He also was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Mr. Tackett enjoyed cars, working on anything and spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He always lent a helping hand to anyone in need.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard, with the Rev. Roger Thompson officiating.
