A duck pond, pinewood derby races, tumbling, fire safety instruction, craft projects, health screenings and an obstacle course. These are just a few of the activities to be offered at the annual Family Fest 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 6 at Tiffin YMCA.
Event chairwomen Mikki King and Melissa Bowers conducted the final meeting of the Family Fest planning committee Friday. Bowers reported 45 groups have registered for 2013, following the theme "Let's Get Moving Together."
Seneca County Area Transportation is to provide two shuttles so that those attending can park at National Machinery and ride down to the Y. At least one of the vehicles has a wheelchair lift available.
Participants should plan to bring non-perishable food items to place in the FISH collection box in the lobby. Many items are to be given away in "the Loft," the area between the two gyms. Bags will be available for carrying free items, craft projects and printed information. Those who fill out free raffle tickets could win a valuable prize, including a bicycle, backyard pool, Napoli pizza, a family pass to the Tiffin Field of Dreams Drive-In, buy-one-get-one drive-in passes or a YMCA membership.
WTSC and WTTF are to do live broadcasts from the Y in which they speak to people at the booths and families who attend. Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to take registrations for library cards.
People of all ages can visit a photo booth and explore COSI's 20 "science box" attractions. Animal lovers can interact with a therapy dog, a search and rescue dog and pets from the Humane Society of Seneca County. Children can visit with several costumed mascots. Martial arts clubs from Tiffin University and the YMCA, and biddy wrestlers are to give demonstrations.
