A fire broke out at McDermott's Video & Ice Cream, 110 S. Sycamore St., Thursday night. Sycamore Fire Chief Bryan Clouse said the fire, reported around 11:30 p.m., started in the ice cream shop of the building, but the cause remains under investigation. A woman and her daughter who lived in the second and third floor apartment were able to exit the building, he said. No injuries were reported.
He said fire damage was contained to the first floor of the building.
