Where are we going?

March 7, 2013
The Advertiser-Tribune

It would appear as if the gap between Main Street America and Pennsylvania Avenue is getting ever wider. A great majority of politicians think if they are elected, they have a mandate and they should tell the electorate what they are going to do for us, whether we want it or not.

We have become a welfare state, and this includes corporate welfare. We can't borrow our way out of poverty; as Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." We, Americans, must learn to live within our means. A majority of politicians haven't learned the basic laws of economics, that you can't spend what you don't have, and by borrowing from the Chinese, we are indenturing ourselves to them.

President Barack Obama was elected to represent all the people, not just those who want to turn us into mindless socialists who are waiting for someone else to take care of us. Mr. Obama stated in his press conference March 1 that he is not a dictator, but his idea of compromise seems to be that he always gets 100 percent of what he wants.

When things don't go his way or something bad happens, he always blames it on someone or something else. What happened to "the buck stops here?" This does not mean the other side of the aisle gets off scot-free, because there is plenty of blame to go around! A majority of politicians of this country are out of control, Most of them tend to be prima donnas who are in Washington to look out for their own self-interest.

The polarization of this country has become a burden that will break us. Whatever happened to the United States of America? It is time to get back to following the Constitution and put God back into our lives, schools and our society.

Sincerely,

Fred & Kay Zirger,

Tiffin
