A Bluffton woman struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning on SR 199 remained in serious condition Monday afternoon, a detective from the Wood County Sheriff's Office said.
Sgt. Rod Smith said Bridgette Staley, 23, had been upgraded to stable condition but was later listed again in serious condition.
Staley was transported by medical helicopter to The Toledo Hospital after the sheriff's office received a report she was unresponsive and lying in the roadway. Staley had been walking on SR 199 when she apparently was struck by a vehicle near Pelton Road. Smith said the driver, Amber Allgire, 23, of Fostoria, had fled the scene but was later located at a rural Fostoria address.
Smith said law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident and whether a second vehicle was involved.
