Sandusky County

Yo-Yo Quilting is planned 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at Sandusky County Park District office, 1970 Countryside Place, Fremont. Participants should provide a yard of yellow and green scrap fabric to help make a corn-themed fundraising quilt. Also, bring matching thread and scissors. Fabric can be plain or print.

No previous quilting experience is needed. Register by calling (419) 334-4495.

Hancock County

Hancock Park District's photo contest open house kicks off at 3 p.m. Feb. 23 with opening speaker Steve Perry, who is to present "Capture the Landscape" at Brugeman Lodge.

Join the award-winning photographer to discover techniques pros use to create landscape masterpieces. He is a self-taught landscape and wildlife photographer who has been exploring the natural world with his camera for nearly 30 years.

The park district is to host two public open houses displaying entries in the 17th annual photo contest. Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Recreation Area is to be open 4-6 p.m. Feb. 23 and 1-4 p.m. Feb. 24 to showcase the winners.

The public can vote for a favorite photograph at the open house, and the winner will receive a People's Choice award and a free shelter rental.
