Redmen halt 43-game skid
FOSTORIA - Fostoria snapped a 43-game losing streak Thursday by holding off Northern Buckeye Conference foe Genoa 46-43.
The Redmen (1-21, 1-13 NBC), who last won in the 2010-11 postseason, saw a 12-point lead in the third quarter turn into a four-point deficit in the fourth.
But FHS rallied back for a 44-43 lead with 1:22 to go when Jada Hampton converted two foul shots after Genoa received a technical foul for calling a timeout it did not have.
Erica Moore later added two foul shots with 7.3 seconds left to push Fostoria's lead to the final score.
Haley Plantz's 3-point attempt at the other missed as time expired.
Hampton keyed FHS with 17 points and Kierra Settles scored 11, while Moore added six points and 13 rebounds.
The Comets (7-14, 3-11) got 17 points from Ciara Albright and 16 boards from Brynn Skilliter.
Hohman-led Chieftains turn away SE
BASCOM - Cassandra Hohman pumped in 32 points Thursday as Hopewell-Loudon wrapped up the regular season with a 62-53 Midland Athletic League win over Seneca East.
Aleta Daniel added nine points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Chieftains (15-7, 6-4 MAL) and Hohman grabbed seven rebounds.
Courtney Burns and Danielle Rohrbach both netted seven points, and Burns dished five assists.
Ashton Daniel's 23 points paced the Tigers (13-9, 4-6). Seina Adachi tossed in 15 points, but no other Tiger scored more than five.
