BEREA-Heidelberg got off to a poor start at Baldwin-Wallace Wednesday, digging itself a 17-point hole and never really climbing out in an 81-67 loss.
BW's Kyle Payne had another good game against the Student Princes, finishing with 23 points and seven rebounds as the Yellow Jackets improved to 18-6, 13-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Heidelberg made a run in the second half. When Dane Givner made a pair of free throws with 6:14 remaining, HU trailed just 64-60.
But BW went on a 10-2 run to put the contest away.
Heidelberg shot just 1 of 14 from 3-point range in the loss.
"We didn't shoot it very well from 3," said HU coach Anthony Gholson. "Theymad their wide open shots, and they got a lot of them."
BW was 9 of 20 from 3-point range.
Jackson Blue led Heidelberg with 14 points, while Givner worked his way to 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.
"It was one of those games where he just battled," Gholson said of Givner. "I thought we played OK, We didn't play awful."
Heidelberg fell to 10-14, 5-12. It hosts Otterbein in the regular season finale Saturday. That result will help decide who Heidelberg plays in next week's OAC tournament.
