FREMONT - Calvert's Corinne Harris and Columbian's Sarah Hudacek each took victories in their respective swimming races Saturday to gain a district berth and highlight local area athlete performances.
Harris even set a school record in her winning event.
She swam to victory in the 200 free, finishing in 2:00.46.
Sarah Hudacek's win in the 200 IM (2:20.21) rounded out the local winners. She also picked up a third in the 100 fly (1:03.56).
Chris Gates finished second in the 200 free (1:53.11) while Rachel Hudacek added runner-up honors in the 50 free (25.32).
The Columbian girl 200 medley relay team of Lindsay Young, the Hudaceks and Natalie Howard ended third (2:01.97).
Calvert's Katie Tiell also chipped in a third in the 500 free, setting a school record of 5:47.15 in the final.
Winners from each individual sectional race advance to the district as well as the next fastest 27 times between the five sectionals. In relays, the winners advance to the district meet while the next-fastest 19 times move on.
All district qualifiers will be posted this afternoon.
