Man self-inflicts injury in Fostoria

A man was taken by Life Flight to a Toledo Hospital after he stabbed himself in the chest Thursday evening.

According to reports from the Fostoria Police Department, a 911 caller in the 800 block of Cory Street reported the self-inflicted stabbing at 6:34 p.m. The man, Michael M. Alge, 58, was taken to Fostoria Community Hospital and then to ProMedica Toledo Hospital by Life Flight, Capt. Patrick Brooks of the Fostoria Police Department said.

Brooks said Alge, who suffered life-threatening injuries, had gotten into a fight with his fianc prior to stabbing himself in the chest.

A spokeswoman from ProMedica Toledo Hospital said Friday evening the hospital had no information regarding Alge.
