She was born June 22, 1934, in Fremont. She married Kenneth E. Miller Nov. 7, 1953, in Fremont, and he preceded her in death in 2006. They resided and farmed in the Bloomville area for many years. Shirley most recently enjoyed the friendship of her many friends at Kiwanis Manor, Tiffin.

Shirley loved to write poems to show the pride she had in her grandchildren: Regina (John) Price, Karla (Matthew) Davis, James Miller, Rebecca Miller, Casey (Patricia) Enders, Kenneth (Taina) Enders, Shannon Burns, Nicole (Mark) Blaser, Sean (Bekki) Peck, Jennifer (Jesse Blair) Loftin, Christopher (Tiffany) Boehler, Jakob (Elizabeth) Boehler and Tara (Shane) Holbrook. Shirley had 30 great-grandchildren who will also be beacons of her faith in God and in family.

Shirley began our family gatherings with prayer. She also was known to tell a few jokes on occasion, followed by her contagious smile and laugh to let us know she got us again.

Shirley was first a wife and mother, on their small farm. Shirley and Ken taught their children how to work hard and be proud of whatever they did. There were many wagons of hay to load and unload and pens to clean. When it was time to work the fields, Shirley would pack up the lunches and kids. The kids would play on their picnic blanket as Shirley cultivated the field, round after round. As children got older, the Miller family enjoyed the harness racing circuit during the summer, traveling around the state to the county fairs. It was a good life.

Shirley worked for many years at Newberry's Dept. Store and American Discount, Tiffin. She later worked at Ameriwood.

Shirley's family would like to thank the medical staffs at Cleveland Clinic, Toledo Hospital, Blanchard Valley Hospital, The Bellevue Hospital, Seneca Dialysis DeVita and, most recently, The University of Toledo Medical Center.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Donna Van Trees officiating. Burial will follow at Farewell Retreat Cemetery, Republic.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, and one hour before time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kiwanis Manor Flower Funds, SCAT, The Salvation Army, to the family or to a charity of the donor's choice.
