FOSTORIA - At Mayor Eric Keckler's request, council agreed to renew retired Fostoria Parks and Cemetery supervisor John Potteiger's seat on the Tree and Beautification Committee at Tuesday night's council meeting. The term is to expire at the end of this year.
Potteiger has spent more than 20 years on the committee providing guidance and advice. His passion for trees has been passed to his son, Jon, who has served the city of Tiffin in the Park and Recreation and Public Works departments as an arborist for many years.
Council also approved modifications to a section of the city's personnel and policy manual that describes employee benefits for full-time employees. The ordinance was passed as an emergency.
Council approved a liquor license and transfer request for Fostoria Pantry, from DPK Conrad Inc. to Great Scot.
Council President Doug Pahl appointed At-Large Councilman Brian Shaver to serve on the finance committee.
Second readings were given of an ordinance authorizing the city to negotiate a mutual aid agreement for fire protection with Hancock County, and amending the traffic control map in establishing a handicapped parking space at 151 E. Fourth St.
Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the municipal building.
