Friar Michael Wright, OFM Conv., died Monday Jan. 28, 2013.
He was born Donald Wright Dec. 30, 1929, in Tiffin, to Franklin and Gertrude (Swartzmiller) Wright. He entered the Conventual Franciscan Order in 1950 and professed solemn vows Feb. 7, 1955.
Michael served in a variety of capacities, from farming to administrative. His devotion to service led to his ordination as a permanent deacon June 7, 1987. His ministry took him to Mount St. Francis, Ind., Chaska, Minn., Carey and Lorain, Ohio, Mesilla Park, Carlsbad, Lovington, Artesia and Hobbs, N.M., San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, and Brunswick, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by two brothers, D. Michael and Robert; a sister, Sue Kuhlman; and sister-in-law, Luella Wright.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Jan. 30, 2013, in the chapel at Mount St. Francis, Ind., including a vigil of remembrance at 7:30 p.m.
His Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Mount St. Francis.
