Stephen O. Nye, 64, of Green Springs, died at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1948, in Toledo, to Wilbur and Rose C. (Boes) Nye. His mother survives in Green Springs.
Other survivors include two brothers, Joseph (Sarah) Nye of New Washington and Daniel (Anita) Nye of Norwalk; three sisters, Mary Lonsway of Tiffin, Rose Ann (John) Fick of Westerville and Jane (Howard) Van Horn of North Potomac, Md.; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime special friend, Jessie Binder of LaSalle, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, James Nye; a brother-in-law, Carl Lonsway; and a nephew, Howard Van Horn.
Stephen was a 1966 Green Springs High School graduate. He served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was a truck driver for Baker Trucking Company and a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and a life member of Green Springs V.F.W.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home followed by the Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. The Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin. The United Veterans of Seneca County will perform military rites at the grave site.
