SOUTH EUCLID -Tiffin University struggled in the early going of its non-conference game with Notre Dame College, putting itself in a 15-3 hole early, and trailing 48-32 at the half.
The Dragons scrambled back in the second quarter, cutting the Falcons' advantage to just three with 4:13 left. But the Falcons held on for a 91-86 win.
"We just came out and started very poorly," TU coach John Hill said after his squad fell to 6-12. "I don't know that we were mentally ready. We didn't play defense well, we didn't play offense well in the first half."
Joe Graessle scored a game-high 26 points for the Dragons, and Eric Roby had his second-straight big game, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds. Cody Dennison had 11 points and seven boards.
"We're scoring, we just need to get better defensively," Hill said.
Tyree Gaiter had 25 points for Notre Dame, while Cam Carlin had 15 points and Jarvis Huntley had a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds.
Eric Dummermith came off the bench to score 18 points for the Falcons who improved to 6-10.
"Disappointing," Hill said. "we had a good scouting report, we knew what we were going to do but we couldn't shut them down defensively."
