Calvin L. Smith, 86, of Fremont, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Pleasant Township, Seneca County, to G. Howard and Mae Estella (Blue) Smith.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation storekeeper during World War II. He married Inez Hausman Nov. 27, 1947, and she survives.
He also is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Ron) Stout of Fremont and Joan (Dennis) Gable of Clyde; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and a sister, Melverna (Walter) Auxter of Clyde.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Marie Sommers, Thelma Miller, Georgia Divine and Raymond Smith; and a grandson.
His memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at First United Church of Christ, Fremont.
Visitation is 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 a.m.
