ATTICA - Village council heard first readings on resolutions to place renewal levies on the May 7 ballot for police protection and park operations.
The 3-mill property tax renewal for police protection would generate $40,219, and the .05-mill renewal levy for park operation would generate $6,703.
Fiscal Officer Pat Krebs reported $733,782.81 in all funds. She presented council members with year-end balance comparison figures for the last three years.
Krebs also submitted year-end balance figures for water/sewer revenue for those years. Water revenues benefitted from last summer's drought by $34,000 from selling bulk water, thus eliminating a 3 percent water rate increase for water users this year.
During council's reorganizational meeting, Mayor Bryan Shock said all committees would remain the same and meetings will continue at 7:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays monthly.
AVR Joint Fire District is sponsoring its sixth annual gun raffle Jan. 26 at Attica Fairgrounds. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 by contacting any firefighter or Attica Village Pizza House.
It was announced Attica is hosting the Jan. 31 Village Association Dinner at Attica United Methodist Church. Cost for the 6:30 p.m. meal is $12. Reservations should be made by Jan. 24.
In other business, council:
Heard the first reading of an ordinance accepting the 2013 Ohio Basic Code.
Heard the first reading of a resolution authorizing mutual aid services provided by Attica Police Department.
Learned police computers have been installed.
Council meets next at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24.
