Boys Basketball Roundup: Reinhart-led Blue Jackets claim 8th in a row

SYCAMORE - Brandyn Reinhart pumped in 30 points and three teammates combined for another 40 Friday as New Riegel vaulted Mohawk 81-57 in Midland Athletic League play.

The Blue Jackets led by five points after the first quarter, but used a 20-12 advantage in the second to gain momentum to push their win streak to eight.

Reinhart had 15 rebounds to go with his game-high point total for New Riegel (11-1, 5-0 MAL).

Korey Williams backed him with 17 points, Josh Nye netted 13 and Nick Wank scored 10.

Jake Dryfuse hauled in 11 boards and Andrew Hohman tallied six steals and five assists.

The Warriors (3-5, 2-3) got 24 points from Drew Loose and 15 from Mitch Parker. Darby Walton chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.

Raiders get around Mohawks

KANSAS - Lakota got a bit of separation in the middle quarters and benefited from a solid game by Kody Brewer in Friday's 61-50 Midland Athletic League win over St. Wendelin.

St. Wendelin finished the first quarter clinging to a 16-15 lead, but Lakota (4-7, 2-3 MAL) outscored the Mohawks by five in both the second and third periods to build a 46-37 advantage.

Brewer led the charge with 23 points, seven steals and five rebounds for the Raiders. Josh Kirkpatrick added nine points and three assists and Darris McGown turned in eight points and three steals.

Gabe Walters' 15 points and nine boards sparked the Mohawks (3-7, 1-4). Nick Schumaker backed him with 11 points and Zach Miller and Brady Rutter both tossed in nine points. Rutter also snared four steals.
