Donald F. Hossler, 94, of Bloomville, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 10, 2013, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1918, Bloom Township, Seneca County, to Jay and Bertha (Klaiss) Hossler. He married E. Frieda Bayer Feb. 24, 1940, in Attica, and she died in 1995. He later married Dorcas (Snyder) Meyer in 1997 and she died in 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie (Jon) Blaser and Carol (Joe) Adams, both of Bloomville, and Donna (Gerald) Hawblitz of Attica; a son, Dale (Linda) Hossler of Westerville; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Hossler; and a sister, Iola Sanford.
He was a member of Bloomville United Church of Christ and a village councilman from Jan. 1, 1951-Dec. 31, 1952. He provided the audio and lighting systems for the local schools and church socials while his children were in school and later in his life. He spent the last 35-40 years wintering in Florida. Don worked for the village of Bloomville from Jan. 1953-Dec. 31, 1981 as the street superintendent. He also owned and operated Hossler Repair and Welding, Bloomville.
His funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19 Bloomville, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation is 11-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the funeral home.
