Here it is, the time of year again to renew our dog licenses. My question is, why is it just the dog owners who have to have licenses. As far as I know, the Humane Society also houses cats and other animals. In fact, just a few weeks ago, there was an article in The A. T. written by Janie Hohman (of the Humane Society ) stating there were 42 dogs and 102 cats/kittens being housed there.
I realize the dogs may eat more, but when they are more than doubled by cats, I think that more than evens it out, especially when you have to have cat litter for all these cats. It is not a big amount of money for the licenses, but let's be fair about this. The cats should have licenses also, period. Then, perhaps, the society will not be in such financial turmoil as it appears to be with all of the time spent on asking for donations (money, food, garage sale items, cat litter). I know this letter may upset some cat owners and perhaps some of the staff, but let's be fair about this, and I am sure I speak for most if not all dog owners everywhere. Thank you for allowing me to "vent."

Editor's note: The Humane Society of Seneca County relies solely on donations and does not receive funding from Tiffin or Seneca County. Having fewer animals to take care of would help, however.
