Mark V. Popenberg, 64, of Alvada, passed away at 10:29 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
He was born June 25, 1948, in Tiffin, to J. Vincent and Evelyn (Mangette) Popenberg. He married Charlene Holman June 7, 1972, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Alvada.
Also surviving are a son, Chad V. Popenberg of Alvada; a brother, Charles (Karen) Popenberg of Alvada; and four sisters, Mary Jane Dible and Madonna Parks, both of Tiffin, Geri (Dan) Bodart of Fostoria and Paula (Bill) Kuhn of Alvada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly Popenberg; and two brothers, John and Andrew Popenberg.
Mark retired in 2007 from American Standard, Tiffin, after 36 years of service; he was also a lifelong, passionate Seneca County farmer. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of New Riegel American Legion.
He also enjoyed NASCAR, the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8 p.m.
His Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at All Saints Catholic Parish, New Riegel, with Father Tim Kummerer, presiding. Additional visitation will take place 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. The New Riegel American Legion will provide military honors.
