Smoke pours from a barn at 7547 N. CR 5 that caught fire Tuesday night.

The sheriff's office spokeswoman said Bettsville EMS, Bettsville Volunteer Fire Department, Bascom Joint Fire District and Kansas Fire Department responded to the scene.

American Electric Power was contacted because a pole next to the barn ignited and a transformer blew.

Seneca County Engineer's Office was contacted because the roads were icy due to the water, she said.

No injuries had been reported as of about 12:40 a.m., the spokeswoman said.

Crews remained at the scene early this morning.
