For the third consecutive month, Seneca County's unemployment rate has remained steady at 6.4 percent, according to statistics released by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
The county civilian labor force - the estimate of all people working or seeking work - decreased from 28,300 to 28,100, and 200 fewer people were employed in November than in October, at 26,500.
The number of people unemployed remained at 1,800 for the third month.
The county's jobless rate and number of unemployed people in the last three months is the lowest since May 2008, which had a rate of 6.0 percent and 1,800 people jobless.
Seneca County's jobless rate remains lower than the state average of 6.8 percent, and Ohio's unemployment rate is lower than the national average of 7.7 percent.
Ottawa County's rate increased 2.5 percent from 7 percent in October 2012 to 9.5 percent in November 2012. Wyandot and Sandusky counties both saw slight rises in unemployment in November.
Many neighboring counties saw drops in unemployment, including a nearly 2 percent dip from Crawford County, whose jobless rate fell from 8.3 last October to 7.5 in November.
Huron County saw a little more than a half-percent decrease in unemployment, while Wood County fell .1 percent and Hancock remained steady at 5.1 percent, the lowest rate in the area.
