SYCAMORE - Fire Chief Bryan Clouse addressed the village council Tuesday evening, asking that a renewal levy worth 2 mills be placed on the ballot this spring to continue funding the volunteer fire department. The levy would generate about $24,000 annually. The current levy expires at the end of this year.
Clouse also said McCutchenville officials are to meet with Sycamore village officials today and continue discussions on merging the Sycamore and McCutchenville fire departments into a fire district.
Clouse told council members the Andersons donated $5,000 to fund repairs to a fire ladder truck.
Council approved:
Integrating cleaning duties to the duties of emergency medical billing clerk Peggy Mooney.
Authorizing Clouse to sign automatic mutual aid agreements.
Placing a 2-mill renewal levy on the May ballot to fund fire services.
Setting budget appropriations for first quarter 2013.
Deleting Rusty Jeffrey from fire and Rhonda Morrison from EMS rosters.
Adding Michael Sowers, Zachary Riedel, Alec Clinger and Michael Searls as temporary probationary firefighters pending meeting requirements.
The income tax committee is to meet 6:30 p.m. today.
The council is to meet next at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8.
