BASCOM - Dick Freeborn, co-manager of Meadowbrook Park in Bascom, told Hopewell Township trustees Monday they had "hit the daily double."
Freeborn was referring to two matching grants awarded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Office of Real Estate.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund is to provide $70,000, a 50 percent matching grant toward renovations to Meadowbrook pool.
The state controlling board is to meet Jan. 14 to approve $19,312, a 25 percent matching grant through Nature Works.
Last month the White Foundation provided a grant worth $12,000, and Whirlpool Foundation provided an additional $300.
Freeborn is exploring whether renovations will have to be either through the bid system or estimates.
He also reported another wireless microphone will be needed for the ballroom after the first of the year. He discussed a possible project for "down the road" which would provide two additional speakers for the ballroom.
The trustees and park co-manager Troy Breidenbach discussed possible strategies for plowing snow in Bascom in light of the disruption of streets during the sewer project.
Breidenbach also noted the new truck is now lettered, an estimate of $996 was received for a new shop door and a quote of $1,398 was received for special lights for a new vehicle.
Corporate One benefits coordinator Lori Huth gave a presentation on proposed medical benefits. The trustees voted to approve medical coverage through Medical Mutual effective Jan. 1. The plan represents a $7,000 savings over the current rate. Life insurance coverage will cost $56 per month, a 38 percent savings from this year. The trustees are to pay a $4,412.14 premium to initiate coverage. A summary of benefits and coverage was distributed for township employees.
Trustee Lori Zoeller reported on Healthlink's alcohol and drug testing for township employees, stating the testing will remain in Tiffin but be billed through Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Trustee chairman Jim Clouse said they are to consider zoning applicants Jan. 28 to replace outgoing zoning coordinator Bob Benner.
The next meeting is 3 p.m. Dec. 31 at the township office.
