John B. ‘Berneil’ Saum

John B. "Berneil" Saum, 80, of Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1932, in Kansas, to Melvin and Alta (Hammer) Saum.

Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Saum of McCutchenville; five sisters, Kathleen (Royal) Smith of Tiffin, Mary Ann Ley and Connie (Donald) Bouillon, both of Fostoria, Anna Lou (Thomas) Goshe of Alvada and Berneita Saum of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Berneil graduated in 1950 from Jackson Liberty School and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He was in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, serving one year in Korea. He worked at Basic Refractories, Bettsville, in research and as a truck driver.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Liberty Township, with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
