Volunteers needed

St. Vincent dePaul is seeking volunteers for a Christmas basket distribution at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Baskets are to be assembled 6 p.m. Thursday. Families are to pick up their items 1-4 p.m. Friday.

Anyone who can help either day should call (419) 447-8218.

Get help with utility bills

The Home Energy Assistance Program, through the Ohio Department of Development, is available to low-income Ohioans to help with utility bills. Households of two with a gross income of $30,260 or less may be eligible.

Ride the North Pole Express

FINDLAY - The North Pole Express is to be open 6-9 p.m. Friday, 5-9 p.m. Saturday and 5-8 p.m Sunday. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children 12 and younger.

Santa Claus is to pay a visit Friday. A photo with Santa is $5.

Operated by the Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation Society, the train ride is at 11600 CR 99, Findlay.

It also is to operate during the same hours Dec. 28-30.

Speaker to illustrate

'Great Locomotive Chase'

The American Civil War Museum, 217 S. Washington St., is to host "Andrews' Raiders, The Great Locomotive Chase" at 7 p.m. Sunday. The presentation is sponsored by the Johnson's Island Civil War Round Table.

Robert Goulding is to discuss this event, which resulted in the birth of the Medal of Honor. Goulding is to be dressed as a Western & Atlantic Rail Road conductor and plans to display his "G" gage model layout of the train that was the Raiders' target.
