Seneca County

Teens ages 12-17 are invited to a Track & Trail Winter Fest 5-8 p.m. Dec. 27 at Steyer Nature Preserve, CR 33 at Abbott's Bridge, Fort Seneca.

Participants should dress for the outdoors and plan to learn, discover and explore the winter season through a variety of activities. Snacks and a campfire are provided.

Registration is required.

Children ages 6-12 can take part in a Tree Huggers program about "Winter Wonders" 1-4 p.m. Dec. 28 at Steyer preserve.

Sandusky County

Hike for the Health of It at noon Dec. 27 at Creek Bend Farm, 654 S. Main St., Lindsey.

No registration needed for the hike; just show up and walk with Linda Rose.

Families Enjoying Nature is a new series of programs. The first, about animal tracks, is planned 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at White Star Barn, 5013 CR 65, Gibsonburg.

Spend time as a family learning about the outdoors and creating memories. A light lunch is to be provided. Bring mugs and a snack to share.

Hancock County

Weather is to be the topic of an open house hosted by the Hancock Park District 1-4 p.m. Sunday at "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center, Oakwoods Nature Preserve.

The whole family can learn about weather by investigating clouds, precipitation and frost and other topics. Children can make a weather vane to take home and create a story with the new weather puppet "family." See how animals can predict the weather and learn how to prepare for severe weather emergencies.

A science presentation is planned for 2 p.m.

Oakwoods Nature Preserve is west of Findlay at 1400 Oakwoods Lane.

Hancock County

Amateur photographers are invited to participate in the Hancock Park District's 17th annual photography contest. Photo submissions are due by noon Feb. 11 at park headquarters, 1424 E. Main Cross St., Findlay.

For complete details, interested participants should read the 2013 contest brochure which may be picked up at headquarters, participating sponsor locations or downloaded at www.hancockparks.com.

More than $1,000 worth of prizes are to be awarded by sponsors in the form of cash, gift certificates and other prizes.
