Christmas concerts

slated at OF, Columbian

Columbian High School's holiday concert is at 8 tonight at the school, 300 S. Monroe St. Student instrumentalists and vocalists are to perform.

The elementary, middle and high school bands and choirs of Old Fort School are to present a Christmas music concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school.

Admission is free.

'Hunger ' to be screened

Sunday at 2 p.m., The Ritz Theatre's Read It - See It series continues with "The Hunger Games."

The 2012 science-fiction fantasy stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. It is rated PG-13.

Auditions coming up

Area community theaters are gearing for productions early in 2013. Auditions for three are listed below.

Ritz Players - "Man of La Mancha"

Open auditions for the musical are set for 6:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St. Production dates are Feb. 15, 16, 23 (7:30 p.m. and 24 (2 p.m.) on the main stage at The Ritz. There are roles for 14 men and five women (ages 16 and older).

Because of adult situations, minorsd will need parental permission to audition. Several non-singing male roles with few or no lines and limited rehearsal time are available as well as a few female dancer roles with no lines and limited chorus singing.

A small chorus may be added depending upon auditions.

Participants should bring a prepared song to sing with a provided accompanist; there also will be an optional dance audition for women.

Bellevue Society for the Arts - Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple"

Auditions for this comedy are slated for 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in Hirt Theatre, 205 Maple St., Bellevue. Production dates are Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 22, 23, March 1 and 2.

Six men and two women are needed to portray Oscar Madison, a slovenly, recently-divorced sportswriter; Felix Ungar, a fastidious, hypochondriac news writer with marital problems; Murray, Speed, Vinnie and Roy, Oscar and Felix's poker buddies; and Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon, British sisters who live in Oscar's building.

Bucyrus Little Theatre - "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

Auditions for this Ken Kesey-penned drama are 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the theater, 130 Songer Ave., Bucyrus Needed for the cast are 12 men and 4 women ages 19 and older.

Tracy McAdams is directing the show with performance dates of March 2-4 and 8-10.

Final weekend

for two Christmas shows

FINDLAY - Fort Findlay Playhouse is to stage the Nunsense Christmas musical, "Nuncrackers" for its final run of shows at 8 p.m. today through Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

The theater is at 300 W. Sandusky St., Findlay. Tickets are $15.

BUCYRUS - The musical "Annie" is to be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bucyrus Little Theatre, 130 Songer Ave., Bucyrus.

Call (419) 562-0731 for reservations. Adult tickets are $15 and students are $10.

Flute concerts planned

HURON - Terra State Community College is to present the Northern Ohio Regional Flute Alliance at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huron Public Library, 333 Williams St., Huron.

The program is to employ all the "voices" of the flute as the musicians perform a variety of sacred and secular works. The flute's ability to mimic the voice or evoke scenes of a wintery nature are expected to bring holiday spirit.

The concert is to be repeated at 4 p.m. that same day at Orchard Grove Retirement Home on Flat Rock Road in Bellevue.
