Burns scores 23, Hohman has 12 points, eight boards as Chieftains improve to 3-2

VAN BUREN - Hopewell-Loudon raced out to an 18-11 lead over Van Buren after one quarter, pushed the lead to 36-25 at the break, then cruised to a 63-51 victory.

Courtney Burns's 23 points paced the Chieftains (3-2). Cassandra Hohman added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Danielle Rohrbach added 15 points. Aleta Daniel led the team in steals (3) and assists (5).

Van Buren (3-2) was held to a 1-of-14 shooting night from behind the 3-point arc. Kaleigh Frampton was tops on the Black Knights with 15 points.

McComb overpowers SW

FOSTORIA - McComb owned the boards and used a push in the second quarter and the springboard Tuesday to a 66-54 win over St. Wendelin.

The Panthers (4-1) outscored St. Wendelin 21-15 in the second period for a 36-27 halftime lead, and ended up out-rebounding the Mohawks 39-21.

Thomas-led Vanlue rolls

VANLUE - Katie Thomas did the majority of her scoring damage in the first quarter and three teammates picked up from there Tuesday as Vanlue booted Old Fort, 45-31.

Thomas netted 11 of her game-high 12 points in the opening period to help the Wildcats grab a 16-7 lead.

Hailey Bonham (11) and Hailey Bonham (8) scored all of their points after that, with Kayla Cornette adding seven of her nine points over the final three periods.

Sammy Miller's eight points led the Stockaders and Sara Bell scored seven. Sam Hartsel grabbed five rebounds.
