A man was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a train near the Clinton Avenue railroad crossing.
According to a release from the Tiffin Police Department, CSX reported at 6:13 a.m. an eastbound train had struck a pedestrian in the city limits after crossing the Sandusky River. Officers responded to the area and located the man at the end of Tilden and Railroad streets. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been identified as Bradley R. Ehrenfried, 55, of Tiffin. Police were continuing to investigate the incident today, and Ehrenfried's cause of death will be determined by the coroner.
Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said Monday it had not yet been determined whether it was an accident.
"We haven't ruled anything yet," he said.
According to the release, the location of the accident was not at a road crossing and rail traffic was stopped in both directions immediately following the incident while the scene was photographed and processed.
