BASCOM - Two area wrestlers shared a top award and four were named to the all-tournament team Saturday at the Hopewell-Loudon Holiday Duals.
Calvert's Daniel Kwiat and Fostoria's Tony Reynolds shared the most outstanding wrestler award for the upper weights.
Kwiat went 5-0 with three pins, while Reynolds finished 4-0 with a pair of pins and a major decision.
Reynolds was also named the tournament's top 170-pounder, but Kwiat did not gain that honor at 220 pounds. The 220-pound award went to Port Clinton's Chris Overfield.
Hopewell-Loudon's Chet Swartzmiller (106) and Damion Vitt (126), and Fostoria's Keegan Green (152) also landed on the all-tournament team.
Swartzmiller went 4-1 with three pins while wrestling at 106 and 113 pounds. Vitt had a 5-0 day and one pin at 126 pounds for the Chieftains, who beat Fostoria 48-31 in the match for fifth.
Keegan Green's 4-0 day for the Redmen included a technical fall.
Calvert finished eighth in the nine-team tournament, falling 48-18 to Fremont Ross in the finals.
Bernie Somers (106/113) also went 5-0 for H-L, Coltan Hossler (285) turned in a 4-0 effort, and Tristan Myers (160) and Elijah Bustillos (195) each ended 4-1.
Fostoria's Luke Leonard (120) finished 3-1, and Calvert's John Brodman (113/120) ended 4-1.
Williams knocked out of Ironman
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Columbian's Seth Williams fell short in his bid Saturday to place at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman national tournament.
The 152-pound junior suffered a 4-3 loss in the quarterfinals to No. 2 seeded Russell Parsons, who went on to win the championship.
In the consolation round, Williams lost 5-3 in overtime to eighth-seeded Shayne Tucker. Tucker later finished fourth.
Williams entered the tournament seeded 10th out of 39 wrestlers.
