A five-point separation was all it took for Columbian High School to beat Clyde High School Friday in a Quiz Bowl Tournament.
Senca/Wyandot/Put-in-Bay/Sandusky Area High School Quiz Bowl League had its double-elimination tournament at First Lutheran Church.
Columbian lost to Clyde in the beginning of the tournament. It was the only loss the entire season, said coach Len Donaldson.
"We are very excited," Donaldson said. "We came through the losers' bracket and had to beat Clyde twice."
Columbian also took home the trophy for North Division winner with a record of 8-0.
"We are really happy," senior Scott Bryant said. "It is my first year competing in the quiz bowl and I had a lot of fun and I am glad that I could help lead the team to as many victories as possible."
"Each member of the team has strong points and we worked well together as a team in every round," senior Chris Daniel said.
"The loss to Clyde kind of had the team stressing out, but it gave us the confidence to win in the end," Daniel said.
Clyde took third place in the division along with the second-place title in the tournament with a record of 6-2 for the season.
Put-in-Bay had a record of 6-2 for the season, giving the team second place in the North Division with a win over Clyde. Upper Sandusky High School took third place in the tournament, losing against Columbian. Upper Sandusky had a record of 2-7 for the season.
