Members of Theta Eta Omicron, a fraternity at Tiffin University, roasted Gene Chintala, assistant professor of political science, Thursday.
The event was to raise money and goods for charities including the Fish Pantry of
Tiffin, the Ronald McDonald House and Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.
Ben Mizenko, member and founder of Theta Eta Omicron, said the event went great and the response was good
from the campus community.
"At one point, there was over 100-125 people in the auditorium," Mizenko said.
The event was able to raise $45 cash to go to Community Hospice Care; 4 gallons of pop tabs to go to the Ronald McDonald House; and two boxes of canned goods to go to the Fish Pantry of Tiffin.
To help the community is part of the fraternity's mission, Mizenko said.
"It is a great opportunity for college kids to have the ability to donate to the community," he said.
Chintala was roasted by fellow faculty members John Miller, Laura Ketter, Michael Herdlick, Mary Grennen, Lisa Kirchner and Santa's wife, Mrs. Claus, played by Beth McFarlan-Hutson of Tiffin Kiwanis.
Chintala said he and Mrs. Claus go way back. He is her driver in the annual Tiffin Christmas parade.
"It was something that I didn't mind doing for a good cause. I was nervous about people actually showing up but it was standing room only," Chintala said.
