Bill Young of Green Springs is to be one of 18 Electoral College members to cast their Ohio district's vote to re-elect President Barack Obama.
Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Friday the 53rd meeting of the Electoral College of Ohio is to take place at noon Dec. 17 in Columbus.
In addition to representing Ohio's fourth congressional district, Young also is to attend Obama's inauguration Jan. 21 at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
"This is a nice consolation prize," said Young, who ran for State House of Representatives in November but lost to Republican Rex Damschroder.
Young, a retired teacher from Clyde-Green Springs Schools, said he will consider running for office again.
"Right now, I'm just re-grouping and trying to see what the future holds," he said.
