FNL to feature holiday flavor

Friday Night Live is returning to The National Theatre at The Ritz at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Performers include Opossum and Friends, Bob Lawitzky and holiday music with Greg Ramsdell and Brittany and Brianne Cook.

Christmas in Carey scheduled

CAREY - The 10th annual Christmas in Carey is to take place 5-8 p.m. Friday in John Carey Park.

Kiwanis carolers are to sing at the gazebo prior to the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at 5 p.m. The Carey Cross Country Relay Reindeer Dash is to get under way, and the mayor is to light the village Christmas tree.

Numerous businesses and the Newhard House Museum are to be open with refreshments, crafts, music and prize drawings. A Christmas puppeteer is to give 15-minute shows in the Spring Fitness building.

Horse-drawn wagon rides and a vehicle display also are planned.

Stage shows this weekend

BELLEVUE - Bellevue Society for the Arts is to present two more performances of "Home (Again) for the Holidays" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Hirt Theatre at 205 Maple St., Bellevue.

This original production includes a large cast from Bellevue, Clyde, Whites Landing and Norwalk performing traditional and contemporary holiday music.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for ages 60-plus and $6 for students.

FINDLAY - Fort Findlay Playhouse is to stage the Nunsense Christmas musical, "Nuncrackers." Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Little Sisters of Hoboken return to the stage with new music, humor and dancing. The audience is encouraged to participate. The final run of shows are 8 p.m. Dec.13-15 and 5 p.m. Dec. 16.

UPPER SANDUSKY - Star Players of Upper Sandusky are to stage "A Tuna Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Two actors play 24 parts during this comedy, which pokes fun at small-town life in the South.

Star Theatre is at 121 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky.

BUCYRUS - "Annie" is to be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bucyrus Little Theatre, 130 Songer Ave., Bucyrus.

The show takes place in New York in December 1933. The Great Depression has turned most people's worlds upside down. On the Lower East Side, Annie has spent her life at the Municipal Orphanage, waiting for her parents to return. Based on the popular comic strip, the family-friendly musical includes favorite songs such as "Tomorrow," "It's the Hard Knock Life," "Maybe," "Easy Street" and "NYC."

"Annie" is to continue for three more shows at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16.

Community Band to perform

FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Community Band is to present a free holiday concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fostoria Intermediate Elementary School.

Directed by Jarrod Koskoski, the band features about 50 members ranging in age from high school students to senior citizens from the area.

Refreshments are to be served during intermission.

'Almost Christmas' is Sunday

FINDLAY - The University of Findlay Orchestra is to perform "Almost Christmas" at 3 p.m. Sunday in Winebrenner Theological Seminary.

Conducted by Thomas Carey, the orchestra includes university students, staff members and musicians from the Findlay region.

The program includes traditional Christmas music, including "Gesu Bambino," "Il Est Ne," selections from Handel's "Messiah" and "Ave Maria." The orchestra also is to play Corelli's "Concerto Grosso in D Major."

The performance is free. No tickets are needed.

'Edwin Drood' auditions slated

FINDLAY Auditions for "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" are set for 8 p.m. Monday and 7 p.m. Tuesday in room 209 in the Egner Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Findlay.

Production dates are Feb. 20-24. The script is on reserve at Shafer Library.

The performance incorporates 24-30 roles for men and women. Those who audition should prepare a 16-bar cut from an up-tempo song (no ballads). An accompanist is to be provided. Performers are asked to dress for movement.
