Prep Basketball Roundup: Blue Jackets turn back Buckeye Central

NEW RIEGEL - Korey Williams nearly had a double-double Saturday as New Riegel turned back Buckeye Central 53-49.

Williams registered nine points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Jackets, who battled past the Bucks 10-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Brandyn Reinhart added 16 points for New Riegel (2-0), Jake Dryfuse scored eight points and Andrew Hohman snared four steals.

Austin Wurm netted a game-high 20 points for the Bucks (1-1) and Stone Wurm scored eight.

Stockaders slam Danbury

LAKESIDE - It was Old Fort's season opener, but the Stockaders already seemed to be in midseason form. Old Fort jumped out to a 43-16 halftime lead, on the way to an 85-35 rout of the Lakers.

Cole Davidson sunk seven of Old Fort's 11 3-pointers, scoring a game-high 27 points. Hunter Perry hit three from behind the arc and scored 15 points. Dalton Perry matched Hunter's total with 15 to go along with 11 rebounds and six steals.

Each Perry also dished out eight assists.

A.J. Phillimore chipped in 13 for the Stockaders.

Rams too tough for Mohawks

MCGUFFEY - Upper Scioto Valley's game against St. Wendelin was all but over after one, as the host Rams jumped out to a 22-6 lead, and then held a 47-18 halftime advantage.

USV cruised from there for a 74-49 victory over the Mohawks.

Gabe Walters tallied a double-double for St. Wendelin with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Schumaker also tallied 13 points.

Graboski great in US win

UPPER SANDUSKY - At halftime, the score stood Marion Harding 10, Taylor Graboski 12. Graboski's Upper Sandusky team enjoyed a 25-10 advantage at the break and cruised to a 55-35 victory over the Presidents.

Graboski scored 23 on the night and added a team-high eight rebounds. Jorden Born added eight points and Amber Cox chipped in seven.

On the glass, the Rams hauled in 32 rebounds, 15 coming on the offensive end. Their defense also gathered 16 steals, with Cox leading the way with five. Allison Snyder added six rebounds and nine assists.

Olivia Davis led Marion Harding with 16 points.

Blue Devils hold on late

CAREY - Zach Boes and Jared Wentling each pumped in 20 points and Carey held off Riverdale late Saturday for a 59-56 win.

The Blue Devils (1-0) led 42-34 after the third quarter before being outscored 22-17 by the Falcons (1-1).

Justin Meek added 10 points for Carey.

Royals power off in second half

BUCYRUS - Todd Carter turned in a double-double and Wynford stormed off in the second half Saturday to beat Mohawk 75-57.

Carter paced the Royals (2-0) with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Michael Powers added 13 points, Ryan Fortner scored 12 and Mason Davis tossed in 10 for Wynford, which used a 23-14 burst in the third quarter to break a 33-33 halftime tie.

Drew Loose's 20 points sparked the Warriors (0-1). Brant Ekleberry scored nine points and Devon Fredritz hauled in eight boards.
