The cause of an early Tuesday morning fatal fire in Reed Township has been ruled undetermined.
According to a release from the State Fire Marshal's Office, extensive damage prevented investigators from identifying a specific cause of the fire at 13843 E. TR 124 that killed two adults and three children.
The wood burner and propane heating system have been ruled out as a cause, the release stated.
Possible causes include electric space heaters that were used throughout the two-story home and smoking. No evidence of criminal activity was found.
According to the release, investigators have information indicating there were battery-operated smoke detectors in the home, but it is unknown whether they were working at the time of the fire.
All five bodies recovered from the residence Wednesday were taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office. As of Friday evening, the bodies have not yet been positively identified.
