Boys Basketball Roundup: Bucks shake off Big Red

PLYMOUTH - They both lurched through the first half, but a 15-7 advantage in the third period helped Buckeye Central gain some breathing room Friday in what became a 51-39 season-opening win over Plymouth.

The Bucks led 21-16 at the first stop, but were outscored 5-3 in the second period before pulling away.

Austin Wurm netted 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Buckeye Central, Stone Wurm scored 11 points and Cade Kaple hauled in eight boards.

The Big Red got 17 points from Tyson Beebe and 16 from Tyrell Ediston, who also snared eight rebounds.

New Riegel turns back rally

McGUFFEY - New Riegel turned back a big rally in the fourth quarter Friday to clip Upper Scioto Valley 51-49.

The Blue Jackets (1-0) led 37-25 at the end of the third quarter before the Rams (0-1) stormed back.

Brandyn Reinhart's 15 points and 10 rebounds fueled New Riegel. Korey Williams added nine points.

Rams stumble in opener

WILLARD - Willard overran Upper Sandusky 44-29 Friday in the season-opener for both teams.

Joe Reile's nine points paced the Rams in the loss, with seven points coming from the foul line.

No other Upper Sandusky player scored more than points.
