KANSAS - New Riegel turned a solid lead into an overwhelming one after the first quarter Thursday in a 50-18 non-league win over Midland Athletic League foe Lakota.

The Blue Jackets (3-0) held a 15-9 advantage at the first stop before outscoring the Raiders 25-2 over the next two periods, which included holding Lakota scoreless in the third quarter.

Taylor Kirian tossed in 15 points to fuel New Riegel and Kara Scherger and Lauren Ladd each netted eight. Ladd added nine rebounds and Kirian grabbed six.

Taylor Arbogast and Morgan Noftz each snared five steals, and Abby Cassidy dished four assists.

Sierra Ray's seven points led the Raiders (0-3). Jessica Walter tallied six boards.

Big Red boots Buckettes

NEW WASHINGTON - Plymouth used a 13-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter to put away Buckeye Central in a 50-42 win Thursday.

The Big Red led 29-23 at the break before truly taking control.

Kylee Kimmel's 11 points topped the Buckettes (0-2) in the loss. Brooke Karl netted nine points.

Celina roars back, holds off Calvert

CELINA - Celina erased a seven-point deficit with a dominating 24-8 run in the second quarter Thursday en route to clipping Calvert 59-53.

The surge in the second put the Bulldogs (2-1) up 34-25 at halftime, allowing them to keep the Senecas at bay from there.

Kate Brickner's 23 points and six rebound sparked Calvert (0-1). Olivia Smith nearly had a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Samantha Beckley (8) and Nicole Bickley (7) combined for 15 points.
